Eligibility:

This series is designed for young professionals and emerging artists, to provide an opportunity to perform in the welcoming and beautiful space of Christ Church Cathedral without the cost barrier of renting the venue. The music is primarily Western Classical, but other genres including Jazz and non-Western musical traditions are also welcome. More information is in the pdf below.

Special project:

We are hoping to highlight indigenous artists on September 30th, and June 22 to honour Orange Shirt Day and National Indigenous Peoples Day. Please specify if you identify as Indigenous, and if you would like to perform on one of those days.

Assessment Criteria:

Successful applicants will demonstrate a high level of performance. They will also suggest an engaging program, with a cohesive theme, which will be marketable to audiences. Creative programming and collaboration between musicians is encouraged, as solo concerts often don't attract the same amount of people. Some recent examples include: 

• A concert of opera arias and duets with newly written dialogue interspersed creating a story

• A selection of new compositions and premieres, tied together by the theme of time

• A juxtaposition of sacred and profane medieval music performed on medieval instruments
